Hiding in the Shadows

Mysterious Bee
|
Artist statement
The message I wanted to send in this piece was mysteriousness. I wanted my viewers to realize that most people have a side to them that most people don't see. I wanted my viewers to also wonder why he is there and how he got there. Even without his facial expression, you can tell he is okay with being there even though he looks tapered and beat up. His mysteriousness was supposed to tell people it's okay to be in an area that you're not very familiar with. |
Looking Through the Lens
|
ARTIST STATEMENT
My message I wanted to send with my piece was that everyone has different perspectives. When you look at my piece, you see someone thinking the guy in the camera is happy and cheerful, but in reality he isn't like he is in the background. I wanted my viewers to start to judge people by how they are, not by how they appear. I wanted them to realize this everyday problem, people judge others just by how they seem and not by how they act. |
The repeating book writer
|
ARTIST STATEMENT
To me, art has the meaning of expression. I see all art with the capability of expressing something the artist wants to express. Like in this piece I express the dim life of the writer, but the bright life of the main character in the book. Even though the writer may have a dim life, he has some brightness seeping from the book onto him, that's my interpretation. Artist Statement
I was inspired to do this art piece because I wanted to do something with a medieval theme. I was motivated by my families love for nights and magic and fantasy, That could create a world that can have anything happen in it. In this piece I wanted to deceive you. When you look at this piece you just see a regular magician walking into a fight or something, but you also notice that somethings off. Maybe it's the hallway. Maybe the stone wall, but what about the torches. They look uneven but they aren't, so if your eyes can deceive you, then are you looking truth or not? |
Swimmer?
|
Artist Statement
I was inspired to do this art piece because I wanted to do something about stereotype. I was motivated by this because one of my friends were describing types of people and when I looked it up the description was way off. In this piece I wanted people to look at this and think it was a swimmer, but This description and look for a swimmer is stereotypical. Not all swimmers wear caps and goggles. |
Endless Imagination
|
Artist Statement
For this dreamscape I wanted my audience to understand that any slight of information ( Like a book) can lead you to endless imagination. With this I wanted to show that anything can lead a person into a different world. I made all these leading clouds that looked like objects, but you can't say exactly what It is, because people can see different things from the same object. So wonder this, do you see what I see? |
Masking Butterfly
|
Artist Statement
For this gif I wanted to use one of my marblings and put it to use in a gif. I wanted to show audience how things interact. The butterfly is showing us the marbling, but doesn't show us all of it. It's like a relationship. Two friends see each other, but they don't see everything about one another. Something is always hiding in a relationship, but do you know what it is? |
Choice project 2
|
Artist Statement
For this project I wanted to make a scene. A common scene that happens in people's lives, so I chose a sleeping scene. Everybody goes to bed, but from this image you can tell that the man is lazy by the way he looks; even though he has the patience to make his bed. Seeing this image you see into this person's life. You can tell that he's not a very happy person by his expression and that he cares about his hair even when it looks bad. I wanted my audience to fabricate a story from the image just like I did. |
Nocturna praesule
|
Artist Statement
For this project I wanted to make a character. I knew I wanted him to be in a medieval era and that I wanted him decked out in lightweight armor. The reason for this is because when I was little me and my brothers acted out fights to our imagination, no we weren't actually fighting, but with our imagination we were. I wanted to take one of my childhood ideas and bring it to paper and that's what I accomplished in this piece. |
